Every community carries stories that go unheard. The voices gathered in this collection belong to students of Steamboat Springs High School who chose, in the face of fear and silence, to write down what it has felt like to be on the outside of something — a culture, a tradition, an assumption, an expectation. Their courage is what makes this book possible.

Join STAND (Steamboat Team to Disrupt Antisemitism and Discrimination) for our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day convening on January 19, 2026 as we come together for an important and impactful conversation.

This year we’ll be focusing on lifting up local black immigrant voices.

Join us for an important community training and discussion with District Attorney Michael Dougherty and others focused on recognizing, responding to, and standing up to hate in our public spaces and online, particularly hate directed toward Jewish individuals and communities.

Join us for our next convening: Banning books yesterday, suppressing ideas today, and silencing people tomorrow— STAND up with us against censorship during Banned Books Week.

Join STAND, Rabbi Kolby of Har Mishpacha, Pastor Tim Selby of Heart of Steamboat, and Chief Beckett of Steamboat Springs Police Department, for our next convening on Suicide Prevention for Marginalized Communities.

Join STAND and Har MIshpacha for Addressing Antisemitism, Anti-Israel Policies, and Sexual & Gender-Based Violence in a Global Human Rights Context on the UN Human Rights Council with Ambassador Michele Taylor in Steamboat Springs, CO.

Join STAND at our first community convening of 2025 called Bridging Cultures: African American Experiences in Routt County for a deep discussion to kick off a week of recognition for Martin Luther King Day.

Join us at this public convening as we hear about the experiences of Latino/Latina/Latinx residents of Routt County and how to better support a more inclusive community for all.

Únase a nosotros en esta convocatoria pública para escuchar las experiencias de los residentes latinos/latinas del condado de Routt y cómo podemos apoyarlos mejor.

Join STAND for our third community convening called "STANDing up to Jewish Hate." Together we will identify trends in antisemitism, examine holocaust history and discuss what steps each of us can take to rid our community of this bias.
